THE BOOK OF THE MONTH CLUB

November 16, 2009

November 17th is fast approaching and for many it can’t get here soon enough! The big day that the Palin book hits the shelves and her avid supporters are beside themselves because they expect a double dose of Sarah that week when factoring in the Oprah appearance the day before the roll out! For a “Palinite”, life does not get much better than this!

I expect the Right to get all puffed up about this latest event in the life of the ex governor. No surprise from that quarter. Expect Sean, Greta, and Glenn to wet themselves in anticipation of her appearance to plug this ghost written tome. Ingram, Coulter, and Malkin will be pretty close to “the rapture” itself as they attempt to out do themselves with words of praise while comparing her to Obama and re-discovering all over again the wonder of this woman, flaws and all. When you consider that Sarah “speaks for us” while appealing to “the real Americans” amongst us, then this latest tour of raking in the big bucks is sure to be a success in increasing the coffers of the Palin clan back in Wasilla. Enough so that Todd has been able to place himself on the list of the unemployed in order “to spend more time with the family”. Touching.

The rub lies more in the attitude that emanates from the so called lefty and feminist blogs who take real issue with any one of us who question this woman’s ability as a possible future candidate for the title of president of the U.S. For anyone who has ever raised a question about her judgment and positions on various issues pertaining to the feminist creed, the noise machine to silence any form of serious discussion is trotted out and the blasphemer banished forthwith. It is so reminiscent of the primaries when any serious question or concern regarding Obama was dealt in much the same way. Curious that “about face” when one can at least assert that these were Democrats questioning the creds of Democrat candidates but has now become a rallying cry in favor of a Right Wing fundamentalist who stands in direct opposition to anything bordering Democratic traits. A woman who has resigned from an elected post halfway through her administration to seek her fame and fortune elsewhere but at the same time does not seem to be in any hurry to endorse or support other women in her own party. You can almost taste the hypocrisy from here!

So she was maligned by certain factions of the press and punditry. Just check out any day the comments being issued against Michele Obama and Nancy Pelosi to judge whether women are “supportive” of all women as these blogs proclaim. The comments are downright ugly and they spew forth primarily from women who feel free to throw the dirt but who rise up in protest to any remark or comment they deem unworthy of “poor Sarah”. Compare the comments to Obama’s thin resume to a woman who resigned her post midway through her term and you can’t help but wonder at the amount of excuses offered on her behalf by these supporters who found nothing wrong with that decision. Anyone half paying attention to Sarah’s comments can only come away with the deduction that she is more than willing to place blame elsewhere for her own shortcomings.

Blame Couric and Gibson for her abysmal showing on the national stage. Not her fault she was unprepared. Blame the McCain spokespersons for her lack of knowledge. Blame the Alaska legislature for her decision to resign. Blame the press. Blame Levi while you are at it but by no means scrutinize this middling politician for coming across as a whining, self serving opportunist whose basic form of communication is Twitter. Hell yes, blame Tina Fey!

And while we are at it, just who are those “real Americans” she has used to further her cause? Rick Perry in Texas who she has offered to campaign for who has called for the secession of his state from the Union? Shouldn’t be surprised since Todd was a member of a party in Alaska for 8 years who advocated for the same. I love it when politicians are able to determine who among us are “real Americans” don’t you? No hypocrisy here!

She chose to throw her support to a fundamentalist Repub male candidate in opposition to a more liberal female candidate in NY state. She is supporting Rick Perry in Texas over Kay Bailey Huthinson in the Texas senatorial campaign. How does this square with her all out feminist creds that some blogs are declaring? The comments leveled against Nancy Pelosi for throwing her support to a male candidate in the MA senatorial race leads one to believe that “memory” in some quarters is less than a week old! Okay for Sarah to favor the male over the female but Nancy must be bludgeoned for doing the same. Remarkable logic!

She is on tape opposing abortion in any case, rape, incest, or otherwise. She is in favor of “creationism” being taught alongside science in the school system. She has lauded the Bush war years as being “God’s will”. She is in favor of school prayer. She “tolerates” gays. She instituted the term “death panels” which not only scared the wits out of most seniors but was her way of supporting the insurance industry over the average citizen she claims to represent. She is the antithesis of every Democratic principle out there yet these so called “Dems” are more than willing to advance her cause for reasons that have entirely escaped me.

Appearances on Fox will ensure that she will be treated with kid gloves. Actual position and policy issues will be absent from the “interviews” but the photogenic kids will be again on display so keep the tissues handy. Glenn Beck will surely be blubbering for the next week if he stays true to form.

Speaking only for myself, I look forward to Michele Bachmann’s autobiography. Can’t wait. I need frequent reminders of what it takes to be a “real American”.

Poor Sarah won’t support every woman no matter what! What’s that do to their theory? How can they support a woman who doesn’t support every woman. And how come it seems only righty women are afforded an understanding??

At the very least, these women should only support women who support every women, no??

Sarah Palin’s political action committee, facing scrutiny from the Federal Election Commission, revealed Monday that it had recently made contributions to a raft of mostly conservative Republicans, including Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell and Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Orrin Hatch of Utah.

    ‘Nuff said.

That’s not hypocrisy, that’s “women standing by women”! What’s the matter with you? You don’t seem to understand much when it comes to the “sisterhood” for heaven’s sake!

Overlook the dichotomy of those statements and just climb onboard. Otherwise you are just another PDS sufferer, bitter knitting, hand wringing, anti feminist, “Obot loving”, misinformed gender bashing idiot!

    Hello, Hello, Hello

Pat, you are sublime at getting down to the bare knuckles of the issue. Well done.
Honestly, Palin is not someone I want living next door to me. Her intrepretation of religion is similar to Ben Stein, and I wouldn’t want him living next door to me either.

I would not want her or the rest of her family near me I would not feel safe she might take offense and shoot me cause I don’t believe or think as she does. I had really hoped that Bristol would get out from under and at least go out o her own.
