Health Care Reform Bill Passes With Stupak Amendment
Here we are in our Ceil Chapman wiggle dress, with the dog’s nose out the station wagon window, a six pack of Tab next to the Moon Pies in the back seat and Miles Davis on the radio, hurtling back in time to the golden days when young women died in the emergency room in septic shock from illegal abortions. Thanks to the sterling leadership of the Democratic party and their stalwart comrades in the Republican party, the House bill which passed today makes it illegal – ILLEGAL – for any insurance company which participates in the exchange from offering abortion to their clients. In addition, basic well-woman exams, which are as pro-family as can be, are not part of the required services. Ladies, get a part time job and loosen up your wallets – your health care, in particular, is about to get a lot more expensive. No more Ceil Chapman for you, you’re going to need to save your dollars. Things are about to get a lot more expensive.
It’s a good thing Anne Fogarty’s Wife Dressing has been reprinted, because I’m sure many of us have forgotten our place.
Thanks to Dr. Violet Socks, whose links I used.
Nicely put! Unfortunately many don’t see this effect. Instead they choose to see the only the words “FREE” sign on their healthcare instead of the “LOSS of FREEDOM” sign that accompanies this terrible piece of legislation.
I’m not sure anyone is under the impression that the health care received as a result of the current reform will be free. But it’s true that liberals who voted in this past election were, more likely than not, hoping for a bill which made health care dramatically more equitable and as a result, less expensive rather than the current bill which makes things only somewhat more equitable and dramatically more expensive. As it stands in the senate version, our premiums (ha! like I can afford health insurance) can rise by 25% and you can bet that they will. And on top of that, women must pay for basic care.
From the above poster’s website:
Bullshit. It is no more socialism than Medicare is socialism. That has worked out very well.
but but but, what about grandma???
It was never about grandma, it didn’t turn out to be about grandma, it turned out to be about women of child bearing age.
To everyone out there who says, “they will never make abortion illegal” I chuck a big ole middle finger salute to you, to all out there who say “abortion is what keeps us from acheiving critical mass”, I chuck a big ole middle finger salute to you.
All you common grounders who think you can work with fuckers to advance equality for women with women who do not believe in equality, I chuck a big ole middle finger salute, to you.
A Democrat stuck the final dagger in so one final big ole middle finger salute to anyone who still feels it’s ok to compromise equality in the name of something a little bit better.
Oh god ynevar, you might as well be a democrat! You think this bill is socialism??? Get a frickin grip, it’s a hosed down republican, private competition, trickle down POS bill, that democrats passed.
It is maddening to listen to see people compare the corporatism that BOTH parties wallowing in, to socialism. Get a clue, this aint socialism.
Maybe, women should refuse to buy insurance that doesn’t cover their medical needs.
Ah taggles…they’ll tell y’all you can buy an individual policy and don’t take any subsidies and then you can buy any little ole insurance policy you want. Bastards!
